An ideal way to add interest, color and flair to almost any outfit is by adding a silk scarf. Yet, silk scarves go beyond adding zest. Natural silk is able to keep us toasty warm because it has marvelous heat retention capabilities.

There is actually no end to the way you can creatively tie your silk scarf. While, it is true, some styles are more suitable as a decorative touch, others are better employed to keep out the frigid cold. For spring, winter and fall, one of the more popular styles among celebrities and the fashionistas worldwide is called the muffler style.

The muffler style has certain associations, notably with the old-fashioned American west and their cowboys. Yet, the roguish look of this style has certain Bohemian qualities about it. In amalgamating the casual and offbeat, this fashion captures the quintessence of fashion and the fashionable within a slightly untidy and tousled look.

You have several options when tying the marvelous silk scarf in the muffler style. For type-one, take a square piece of silk fabric. Fold it in half diagonally. Center the long edge on your throat making sure one of the points is towards the front of your body while the other two points you toss across each shoulder. You can then either tie the two loose back ends together at the nape or bring them forward, tucking them beneath the fabric in the front of your throat.

Creating a muffler style silk scarf the second way requires a rectangular silk scarf. Fold it in half along its width. Fold one corner over the scarf making certain the point lies midpoint in the short edge of the scarf section opposite diagonally. Place the scarf across your throat making sure the point faces down. Knot the scarf in the back before adjusting the fabric to hang in the most pleasing way possible.

It is always a pleasure to wear the muffler style. It keeps the neck cozy on those days when nothing else seems to while making even the most casual outfit look great. Combine your silk scarf muffler with your favorite worn jeans and add comfortable boots with a leather jacket. Try pairing the scarf with an ankle-length skirt and high boots to create a shabby-chic style all your own. To really make the most of this style, opt for a marvelous hand-painted silk scarf.
