Let’s face it, any woman can look great when she glams herself up for a special occasion. After a visit to the hairdressers, applying some make-up and donning a fabulous outfit, we all scrub up pretty well and can make a superb impression on others. What really makes a lady stand out in a class of her own though, is not how she appears when attending these special events, but by looking immaculate when she goes about her normal daily business; when she’s doing all those very ordinary things like shopping and walking the dog.

Not just today, but throughout the ages, women have typically lived fairly frenetic lifestyles. With a home and family to take care of and often a high-powered career to deal with, as well as a thousand other chores and responsibilities to see to, it can often feel difficult to find the time to make the best of ourselves. It is just easier to grab the first items of clothing that come to hand, forget about the make-up and get on with the day. In doing so, however, we not only do ourselves a huge disservice and create a sometimes unflattering image of ourselves, but we also risk missing opportunities in life, such as those related to romance and even work – after all, you never know who you are going to run into when you are doing the weekly grocery shopping.

They say that there is never a second chance to make a good first impression, and there is a great deal of truth in this statement. Whether we like it or not, people will judge us and they will do so based on a number of criteria, an important one of which is our appearance. We, of course, have a choice as to the message that we put across and we can either show the world that we don’t care about how we look or that we do. Even with the many demands and restrictions on our time though, it is still possible to transform ourselves quickly and easily into a lady, and with nothing more than a lipstick and an exquisite handmade silk shawl.

One of the really tremendous things about a stunning handmade silk shawl is that, within reason, it really does not matter what you wear underneath it. Provided that the colors in your silk shawl do not clash horribly with the rest of your outfit, you can easily get away with wearing anything from jeans and a sweater to a smart dress. For that trip down to the store, therefore, there is no need to stop and change from your casual attire in order to present yourself as a lady. Just pop on your fabulous silk shawl, add a touch of lipstick and you will not only look like a million dollars but you will also be cozy and warm too.

From the 100% pure silk which is used to produce handmade silk shawls, to the exquisite hand painted designs, everything about them screams chic, elegance and sophistication, which means that they can transform any outfit instantly. So, next time you nip down to the store or take the dog for a walk, make sure that your stunning silk shawl is kept close to the front door and then when you do go out you will be sure to impress.

Most women, when they are thinking about buying a new womens’ scarf or shawl, imagine that they can only go one of two ways. They can either choose something which will be hard-wearing and practical, or they can opt for a luxury item which they might not consider to be quite as serviceable. Just because a womens’ scarf or shawl both looks and feels luxurious, however, does not mean that it is not also highly practical or versatile, or that it does not represent extremely good value for money. A more utilitarian scarf or shawl, on the other hand, could never be considered to be luxurious.

Ladies scarves and shawls come in a huge range of colors, styles, designs and sizes and, of course, in a wide variety of fabrics. There are those which are made from natural materials such as cotton or wool, and in many people’s eyes these are probably seen as the most practical options because these tough, utilitarian materials have proved their worth after having been used throughout the ages to produce all kinds of different clothing and other items. In addition, there are women’s scarves and shawls which are produced from man-made fabrics such as nylon and polyester which, of course, are highly durable, although not at all environmentally friendly.

At the other end of the scale, there are scarves and shawls which are made from gorgeous luxury fabrics, of which silk is one of the most commonly used. The material is incredibly soft, light and fine and, probably because of these characteristics, it is sometimes considered to be an impractical choice. In fact though, the amazing properties of silk mean that it not only has the ability to keep the wearer cool in summer, but is warmer than any of the utilitarian materials mentioned above and so much more effective in winter. The mere fact that it can be worn all year round, therefore, makes it a much more practical choice. In addition, far from being difficult to look after, a gentle hand wash is all that is required to keep silk scarves and shawls in tip-top condition.

Although there are, of course, some fairly attractive examples of women’s scarves and shawls which are produced from utilitarian materials, these can in no way match the look and feel of those made from silk, and especially those which are hand painted and incorporate unique designs. Everything from the way the fabric drapes, falls and ties, to the designs themselves and the vibrancy of the colors sets these stunning accessories apart as being far superior, which of course means that they are far more versatile in terms of wearability. You might, for example, be able to wear a woolen scarf on a country walk or a trip to the mall, but it most certainly would not be appropriate for a visit to the theater or a cocktail party. A fabulous hand painted silk scarf or shawl, however, looks stunning when teamed up with everything from jeans and a sweater to a gorgeous evening gown.

While going down the utilitarian route might at first seem to be the more logical and practical choice, when it comes to women’s scarves and shawls, this really is one time when you can have your cake and eat it. Style, sophistication, luxury, quality, practicality and affordability – all of these things can be yours.

Scarves of every type and description have been used for years by clubs, organizations and businesses to create a cohesive and distinguishable look for their members and staff. Everyone from Scouts and Girl Guides to certain areas of the military have incorporated neck scarves into their uniforms and there is no doubt that this simple addition makes for a highly distinctive and smart appearance.

Today, neck scarves are still symbolic of a number of different professions, and particularly those which require women to be seen as the height of beauty or professionalism. Female cabin crew members have worn them as an essential part of their uniforms almost since the first passenger flight took off, and few would argue that they add a dash of elegance and panache to their costumes. Take a trip to the cosmetics counter at your favorite department store and here too, you will see exquisitely dressed and beautifully made-up women adorned with these stunning and versatile accessories as part of their outfits.

Of course, when it comes to uniforms, the whole point of wearing a neck scarf is to present a consistent and recognizable, corporate image, but for those ladies who have the choice of work attire, fabulous hand painted silk scarves can make an even greater statement of chic style and sophistication. Lady lawyers, for example, are yet another group of loyal fans of women’s scarves and, in this case, their carefully-chosen neckwear is not worn to make them blend in, but to make a personal statement which makes them stand apart by screaming of the professionalism and status of the wearer.

Hand painted silk scarves which feature unique artwork and which have been created using a process that involves hours of painstaking attention to detail are not just for those who have the earning capacity of a top attorney though. Despite being made from the finest quality silk and requiring expert craftsmanship to produce, their affordability means that women of much lesser means can capture that same look of sheer luxury and grace to truly stand out from the crowd.

With the versatility of being able to be worn in a huge number of creative ways, ladies who wish to embody class and style can choose a different look for every day of the week. The stunning colors and array of unique designs mean that, with a selection in your closet, you will never be short of something to transform even the simplest outfit into the height of fashion and luxury.

Short, tall, slim or shapely, there are handmade silk scarves of different shapes and sizes to suit every woman and to create every type of distinctive look. Rather than seeing you labeled as being part of the Hermes or Chanel club, in one of these glorious accessories, your look will be entirely your own and you will not only stand out as the individual you are, but you will be the envy of all who see you.

When you wake up and getting ready for school or work or wherever it is you’re going you think about what else to add to your assembly. Whether you get it ready the night before or your throw something on as quickly as possible so not to be late you think of what else to wear with your outfit. Sometimes we wear the simplest accessories, stud earrings, bracelets, hooped earrings, a couple of rings, a necklace, an anklet, and even belts. We can put our accessories in our minds and try to combine the perfect match sometimes we get it right other times…not so much. But we all know that one of the items that can make or break the outfit is the bag. And if you weren’t sure about this article now you are. Yes, there are other factors that can make or break your outfits such as the shoes, the other accessories your pick out such as the earrings or the necklace, the socks, and even the jeans. But sometimes the biggest and even the most eye catching piece is your bag.

In high school book bags can vary. You can have your off should bags that resemble purses or you can have back pack, roll back packs, and no those are not linked to just the “geeks” and you can have you massive computer bag. All varieties can be very sheik and classy. And just like your clothing the material your bag is made out of is very crucial to your outfit as well as the color and the little details that go into to it.

For the school place cotton and polyester bags are perfect if they get dirty it’s easy to put them in the wash on gentle cycle so that they can be cleaned or spot wash. Both fabrics are good with any design. When you have a cotton back pack all kinds of material can get meshed together and it can end it up being very messy. But with cotton material and depending on the color you can wear it with any outfit of your choosing. Bags that have a lot of pockets or designs can expand on your outfit. When wearing such, try not to over accessorize. Wear a shirt that doesn’t have too many patterns or dress and your bottoms can be any of your choosing. But one material that will always look spectacular is silk.

When pairing your outfit with a silk scarf or shawl you’ll find that majority of the fabric on bags will flow gracefully with your choice. Silk is a very versatile fabric and can be worn with jeans, polyester, rayon and something similar. It’s a compliment to the rest of accessories. If the silk shawl or scarf is bright with patterns you can have you bag matching or have the bag pick up a matching color within the pattern. Another tip with any scarf and not just any hand painted silk scarf, you can tie the scarf around the bags handle to give it more flare and add more to the bag. Silk embraces your choice of apparel and your bag illuminates your accessories. You can find silk bags at old navy or gap or target or Wal-Mart with similar long lasting fabric and you can find silk scarves and shawls and womenclothingtoday.com where you can also find exotic and new ways in which to wear them.

Nearly all women like to take time and trouble over their appearance. In most cases, it is not a vanity thing, but rather that everything from shopping for those lusted-after items to planning which outfit to wear and doing our hair and make-up is just such an enjoyable process. Of course, with a bigger budget to work with, we can enjoy the even greater sense of satisfaction that comes with knowing that the products we are using and the clothes and accessories that we have invested in are of real quality. Recession or no recession, however, treating ourselves to those really top of the range items is not something that all, or even most of us can do. In many cases we simply feel as though we have to accept the cheaper alternative and compromise on quality in favor of affordability. With some items, however, you really can get the very best without spending a fortune, and handmade women’s silk scarves and shawls are excellent examples of where this is the case.

The stores are, of course, full of regular printed silk scarves and shawls, but although these still often come with a hefty price tag, particularly the designer ones, they are typically not of the very highest quality and in many cases could only really be described as ‘ordinary’. Not only is the grade of silk used in their manufacture often inferior, but repeated designs are used and color ranges are limited. Despite having cost quite a lot of money, they still look and feel mass-produced, which of course is what they are.

Hand painted silk scarves and hand dyed shawls, as you might expect, are produced using an entirely different process than factory-produced ones. To begin with, the designs are created on the highest quality 100% silk fabric, which both looks and feels luxurious. Beautifully soft to the touch, it drapes in an entirely different way, without the stiffness which can be quite noticeable in inferior quality silk.

Every design, meanwhile, is totally unique and is created by an expert artist whose reputation rests on the quality of his or her work. After first stretching the piece of silk across a wooden frame to ensure that it is taut, all of the outlines of the pattern are then drawn on to the fabric with wax, which acts as a barrier to the dyes which are hand painted on to the fabric using a brush. Once the dyes have been allowed to dry, a steaming process is then used to fix the colors into place and to remove the wax outlines, before your individually handmade scarf or shawl is washed and ready to wear.

Every one of these gorgeous accessories is a luxurious work of art in its own right and yet it sells at a price which is comparable to many of the printed versions and often costs considerably less than the designer branded scarves and shawls. Even within a limited budget, we ladies really can have luxury, style and individuality – with no compromises.

Check out your mother’s or your grandmother’s closet and you are almost certain to find at least one silk scarf or shawl. These beautiful accessories have been around for years and have served elegant women all around the world extremely well throughout the ages. Far from being the preserve of those over the age of forty, however, they are the young, trendy woman’s best friend too. Whether you are looking to create the ultimate in today’s shabby chic style or want to stand out as the most desirable and yet untouchable girl in the room, then choosing a stunning handmade silk scarf or shawl could not be a better investment.

Perhaps more so than ever before, young women want to create their own individual style which tells the world who they are and what they are about. The shabby chic style which has come and gone several times in recent history and is now back in fashion once again speaks of individuality and the unconventional. It is casual and yet never scruffy. It incorporates elements of the worn and yet the overall look is slightly dreamy, almost romantic and most certainly bohemian. It looks as though it has been thrown together, and yet it is a style which is very much contrived. It is a look which can make any woman stand out from the crowd, and with a silk scarf or shawl, it is one which is simple and inexpensive to create.

Colors and tones are an important ingredient of the shabby chic style and those which are softer, more muted or look slightly faded are perfect. Rose or dusky pinks, pale grays, mustards, yellows and lavenders, the types of colors that we would think of as being slightly old-fashioned, are perfect for this look, as are the more traditional designs such as florals. Layers too are a vital component of shabby chic for women and these are all areas where hand painted silk scarves and shawls can really help to create just the right style. With their unique designs in such an array of colors and the soft, romantic look and feel of the silk fabric, they look absolutely perfect when teamed with that well-loved and well-worn pair of jeans, and when worn over camisoles, shirts or even that favorite denim jacket.

For those who want to create a completely different kind of look, one which combines sexy with the ultimate in class, silk scarves in particular are perfect. While the look and feel of the gorgeous silk fabric and the unique hand painted design project an image of exquisite taste and luxury, the way in which it is worn can be intensely alluring and even provocative. Whether you just want to give the barest glimpse of shoulder or be really daring and wear your scarf as a halter neck top, the combination of class with sex appeal will drive your admirers crazy.
