What’s with floral petticoats and headgear just because you have stepped into your 50’s? What looks good on you one year would look outdated just because you have grown a year older is bizarre; it isn’t always this cut and dried.

If you are afraid you are going to ‘look’ old in your 50’s you most probably will. However, remember most of the time you are what you wear and the way you dress up can take off years of your actual age.

Instead of bright floral dresses, go for solid figure-hugging, knee length dresses. The lack of skin show adds a nice mature touch while subtly making you look well less than your age. You can team this up with a smart scarf and some pumps.

Have you noticed how women shift to polo t-shirts as they grow old, why on earth? It has become almost clichéd now, and no, it doesn’t help unless of course you’re off to play golf and team polo up with a smart slim-fitting pair of trousers. Stick to stripes (vertical or horizontal depending upon your body shape) and not-too-loud prints. Leave graphic t shirts with rock band emblem on it for your kids.

For a formal look, try pencil skirts and crisp fitting suits. There’s nothing more alluring than power radiating from the way you dress. Don’t forget that accessories make up for 40% of your overall look, so invest in good handbags, classy jewelry, original scarves and comfortable shoes.

Pullovers again are great, team them up with a string of pearls. Keep a tab on your neck and hem line, the former shouldn’t be too low and the latter too high. Wrap around dresses, handkerchief skirts, and maxi dresses are safe bets for any age.

Scarves should be a patent in your wardrobe considering its versatility. Whether you want to add a splurge of color to your outfit or go semi-formal, scarves can be easily manipulated to suit the look. Cotton, and polyester are best for regular wear while if you’re looking for exquisite gifts items, try pashmina and silk scarves, these are known for their opulence and delicate soft fabric.

Faux fur jackets in hot pink are such a disaster at any age. Trench coats, slim-fitting jackets, cardigans, pea coat, and shawls are some winter accessories you can stock up on.

The number one rule to looking young at any age is to stay fit. Workout regularly and keep a check on those junk food cravings.

Wishing you a great Holiday Season,

Like diamonds, hand painted silk scarves are forever. I happened to meet a lady in her mid 40’s at the Museum of Modern art in Vienna on one of my recent visits there. She was visibly impressed and enthralled by the works of Andy Warhol, Jasper Johns, and Claes Oldenburg. In fact, classical Modern works of art by Piet Mondrian and Pablo Picasso held her spellbound. At the end of the tour, she turned sad and said, “I wish I could take these paintings home because I found my share of peace by simply looking at the paintings.” I said, “Did you know that now you can wear beautifully created art in the form of silk scarves?” She said, “No, does something like that exist?” That was the beginning of a long conversation.

After a few months, she called me up to tell me how her life has changed thanks to the hand painted silk scarves. How she found her share of peace in the several shades of blue, red, orange, and green. How much she loves the paintings on the scarves and how it has affected her personality, attitude, and behaviour in a positive manner. I was amused but I knew that for someone who loves art, this was probably as close as someone can get to something that they desire the most and will treasure for a lifetime.  Is it the beauty of art or painting or is it the hidden beauty within each of us that is actually brought out through these exquisitely handmade silk scarves?

I think it is a mix of both. Somewhere deep down within us, there is a beauty that is waiting to come out, waiting to be appreciated, waiting to be embraced. When you wear something as beautiful as the subtleness of winter flowers or the muted brightness of tulips then it transforms something within you. The colours  bright or pale, work their magic on our soul and open the doors of our mind. They relax us from within so that when we face the world, we brim with a sense of high self esteem.

The fact that these hand painted silk scarves have been created to give us a soul experience within a formal environment or in an occasion makes them true works of art.  It is an accessory that you can wear for any occasion or event, including Christmas and Thanksgiving.  The beauty of the hand painted silk scarves lies in its ability to melt and become an integral part of you!

One of the most popular gifts for art lovers today are hand painted silk scarves. Of late, there has been a rising interest in handmade silk scarves because they bring out positive qualities, such as elegance, beauty, charm, and grace in women. On one hand, these silk scarves bring out nuances of still life art and on the other, they highlight the complexity of abstract art. Nature and other elements have been used at the primary subject in the paintings on silk scarves to denote various emotions and aesthetic value. Abstract paintings on silk scarves have been used for indicating a departure from the reality.

These handmade silk scarves are the perfect abstract art gifts for women. Abstract art, sometimes also known as figurative art, highlights cubism and can be depicted through lyrical and geometric abstraction. Abstract art came into existence due to three different art movements, including Expressionism, Romanticism, and Impressionism. The 20th century abstract art was practised by Vincent van Gogh, Paul Gauguin, Paul Cézanne, and Georges Seurat and followed by the likes of Maurice de Vlaminck, and Georges Braque in the pre-cubism era. Cubism art form arrived with Fauvism and was practised by Pablo Picasso, followed by the likes of Francis Picabia, František Kupka, and Wassily Kandinsky.

Keeping in mind the philosophy of abstraction and the essence of modern abstract art, silk scarves for women were hand painted to perfection. Some of the top artists used green dyes and environmental colours to render a strange kind of simplicity to abstract art. The highlight of the hand painted silk scarves is the colour tones, which have been used in a way that they make the scarves stand out. Even the subtle colour tones have been induced with abstract forms including lines, squares, cubes, and circles, to impart uniqueness to silk scarves.

Abstract art highlighted through silk scarves for women focus on modern or contemporary designs. These designs have been painted on the highest and luxurious quality of silk so that the shine and smoothness of the silk scarf is retained. After all, silk without shine is like a painting devoid of colours  One of the other aspects of abstract art highlighted in the hand painted silk scarves is a mix of minimalist art with themes that border on timeless, contemplative, and the transcendental. These three themes add an element of creativity and innovation, which make these silk scarves perfect luxury gifts for women!
